Making Your Space Cozy: Smart, Waterproof Infrared Heaters
We built our table heaters to an IP55 standard. In plain English? It means they can handle a fair bit of dust and a splash of water from any angle without throwing a fit. You can move them from a dry living room to a damp patio and not worry about the internals corroding or the whole thing shorting out.
Heat that actually hits you
Most heaters try to warm up the entire room, which takes forever. These are different. We use short-wave infrared emitters with quartz tubes that get hot in seconds. The moment you flip the switch, you feel it. It’s that instant, cozy warmth on your skin, rather than waiting for the air in the room to slowly catch up. It’s fast. Really fast.
Getting it “Smart”
If you want that “set it and forget it” vibe, you can hook these up to your smart home using WiFi or Zigbee. The setup is pretty straightforward. Your smart hub just sends a signal to a relay or dimmer, skipping the need to manually fumble for a switch. You could set it up so the heater kicks in the second a temperature sensor hits a certain degree, or just have it warm up the room right before you wake up. One quick tip on the wiring: these pull a decent amount of power when they first start. If you’re plugging in a few of these on one circuit, just double-check your wattage. You don’t want to be staring at a tripped breaker in the middle of January.
The honest trade-offs
Nothing is perfect. Because we added those seals and gaskets to keep the water out, the heaters are a bit bulkier than the open-frame ones you see everywhere. Also, because the heat is so concentrated, you have to be mindful of where you put them. If you place one too close to a plastic table, you might end up with a warped surface. Just give it a little breathing room, and you’re good to go.
