We built this electric blow heater for one reason: PET blowing, where the heat needs to be fast, focused, and reliable. It’s a compact halogen infrared lamp that zeroes in on the preform, hitting it with heat exactly where you need it, exactly when you need it. It slips right into automated lines without taking up a ton of space, and it delivers steady heat without the bulky feel of those big convection heaters.
The Heart of It
At the core is a 400V, 2500W halogen element. Running at 400V lowers the current draw compared to 230V, which keeps wiring manageable and cuts down on heat loss in the lines. The 300mm length wasn’t chosen by accident. It lines up with the standard zone length on most blow molding heads, so the heat profile covers the preform evenly. You get the rapid heat rise you need, but keep in mind: that power density means the surrounding equipment needs to be ready for the thermal load.
Built to Last
The quartz envelope is halogen-filled, which keeps the filament stable at high temps and fights that annoying blackening over time. Inside, a reflective coating pushes infrared energy forward, so you waste less heat to the sides and you protect the lamp mount. And the R7s connector? It’s a straight-through, double-ended fitting that makes replacement a breeze. Wire it up, lock the ends, and it stays perfectly aligned in the reflector assembly. No fuss.
Why It Works on the Floor
In PET blowing, timing is everything. This lamp gets to target temperature fast, which helps shorten cycle times and keeps bottle quality consistent. The compact design keeps your machine footprint tight, and the tough quartz construction can take the pounding of continuous cycling. It’s tuned for 24/7 production, but to perform the way it’s meant to, it needs proper cooling and the right voltage match.
